Counselling services in the Southside of Glasgow

Rhona Boam

20171014_200041Rhona works from a Psychodynamic perspective and believes our past experiences and relationships, particularly early in life, can impact on how we feel about ourselves and how we relate to others. Her way of working pays close attention to your emotional world and unconscious processes, allowing for the possibility of increased self-awareness and personal growth. Rhona will provide you with a confidential space, a place where you will be heard, accepted and understood.

Rhona believes the counselling relationship is central to your counselling experience and will provide opportunity to identify, understand and work through any current or long-standing difficulties you might have.

Rhona acknowledges the counselling process is a deeply personal journey and so the changes that take place will not be the same for everyone.  Client safety is of great importance to Rhona. She works at a gentle pace and, whilst not giving advice, she may offer something if it is believed it will ease your distress.

Rhona has worked in the caring profession for the past 24 years, initially trained as a Mental Health Nurse and then in 2012  began her training as a Psychodynamic Counsellor. Although her experience has been varied over the years she has a particular interest in the more complex areas of trauma and trauma-related issues such as loss and attachment.

Rhona is a qualified Counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She holds a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, and has undertaken further training in MBT (Mentalisation Based Therapy, basic) and is currently undergoing training in Somatic Trauma Therapy Training (Babette Rothschild).
